Israel
Risk Level: Two - Danger exists
[ about risk levels ]
Oct 2026: LLLL/Tel Aviv FIR is open, but the security situation remains volatile. Missile and drone threats can lead to short-notice restrictions or disruption, and some international airlines have still not returned to LLBG/Tel Aviv.
See OPSGROUP Briefing: Middle East airspace situation - 2026
The primary risk is missile and drone attacks linked to Iran and regional militant groups, including Hezbollah in Lebanon and the Houthis in Yemen. Air-defence activity and interceptions add a risk of falling debris and sudden operational restrictions. Operators should account for the potential risk across the FIR and closely follow any short-notice instructions from Israeli authorities.

Major events:
Sep 2026: European guidance was updated to advise caution in LLLL/Tel Aviv FIR. Italy also issued an enhanced-caution warning for its operators.
Feb-Jul 2026: Israeli airspace closed and reopened several times during the Iran conflict following US and Israeli strikes on Iran and Iranian missile and drone retaliation.
Jun 2025: Israel and Iran exchanged missile strikes across the region.
Oct 2024: Israel and Iran carried out missile attacks against each other.
Oct 2023: Hamas and Hezbollah launched major attacks against Israel, triggering a large-scale Israeli military response.
