2017: Unannounced missiles from North Korea landing in Japanese waters near western FIR boundary. North Korea continues to test the patience of its Southern and Eastern neighbours, multiple missiles have landed in the Fukuoka (RJJJ) FIR, predominantly in the Western portion South of AVGOK and North of KABDO. Airways Y37 and R211 are now at risk. We recommend avoiding this portion of airspace entirely. 23 AUG; the UK have now issued a NOTAM advising operators of the potential risk to aviation overflying the Sea of Japan. 28 AUG; a missile has been launched over Japan which broke up and came down in multiple pieces somewhere in the Northern part of RJJJ FIR. 14 Sep; another unannounced missile launch which appears to have landed either in the PAZA or KZAK FIR’s.
